There’s a reason people like Gary Ridgway and Robert Pickton could carry out so many murders and it’s not due to them being extremely intelligent. “Hm, where I should I store this dead body! Oh, under the floorboards! Oh dear, oh dear, it’s decaying and starting to smell! I did not expect this at all! What other ways are there to get rid of dead bodies? !” Clue is in the name, Dennis! I also couldn't figure out why he felt disposing bodies in and around a shared house was a good idea, did he want to be caught? He seemed to be somewhat intelligent not sure what purpose that served unless he wanted to get some joy in exposing it under people's noses.for example a exhibitionist who does sexual acts in public for thrill.īased on this documentary alone, he very wasn’t clever. I just felt his tapes were insufferable, toying, but with undertones of lack of responsibility. He revived Carl Stottor just because he had no room under the floor, no one in a psychotic rage without any ounce of premeditation would be so aware to do this IMHO. Him claiming that he would bring someone home and mysteriously they would end up dead.my question would be, why keep bringing them home?Īlso why ask them about their lives and families if you aren't choosing targets that are probably lost and forgotten by loved ones? However I felt there was premeditation, possibly working at a job centre would have put him in contact with victims. He didn't beat that nail over the head but he did outwardly place blame, from his grandfather, to his mother, (his mother tried to blame his co-workers for not noticing, so the apple doesn't fall far from the tree) basically saying his formative years were the basis of his fantasies and this could very well be true. It did dawn on me when one of the reporters claimed he wanted us to think society was responsible for his behavior. He was rather poetic, indirectly speaking, but professing to be truthful and open. I just finished watching it, I wasn't quite sure what angle he was going for but I felt his whole vibe was a manipulation tactic. That was my main takeaway from it, and it's something to really think about. It was the inconvenience of their drains being blocked that stopped him. Nobody really noticed or cared that they went missing. Nobody cared about these young, mostly gay, homeless men and boys. I thought it was really profound at the end when the police officer said that he was only stopped and caught because his crimes started to inconvenience other people. It was really nice and educating for me, albeit sad, as a queer person to listen to the survivors describe what happened and how the police/culture/press allowed it to happen. I appreciate that they cut him off, and spent the last few minutes just talking about the era and how vulnerable the victims were. Documentaries like this, especially about US serial killers that are US productions do have a tendency to grant too much sympathy and understanding to the person, or turn the person into this villainous, exciting figure. Yes, I really appreciated that they cut him off like that. If you notice a violation in the comments, please report it so we can investigate.
